How to Track an Object Automatically With the Meade LX90 GPS Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope

Since the Earth continually rotates, any objects you view through your Meade telescope will appear to move. Your telescope should automatically track objects so that you don't have to constantly readjust it. As the telescope tracks, the object generally will remain centered in the eyepiece.

Things You’ll Need:

• Meade LX90 GPS Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope

1. After you have completed the automatic alignment procedure, "Select: Object" will display on AutoStar II.
2. Choose an object from one of the "Object" menus. Line up the object with the viewfinder. Use the "Arrow" keys to center the object in the eyepiece. You will hear the tracking motors keeping the object centered.
   

Tips & Warnings

• Before automatically tracking an object, you must initialize AutoStar and choose "Targets: Astronomical" from AutoStar's "Setup" menu.
