How to Use Autostar on the Meade LX90GPS Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope to Calculate Sunset Time

Calculating the sunset time will allow you to return to your telescope in time to view certain objects in the sky. Here's how to do it.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Meade LX90GPS Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope

Step1
Touch the "Mode" key until you see "Select Item Object" on the display screen.
Step2
Use the scroll key until you find the "Event" option in the "Select Item" menu.
Step3
Use the "Enter" key to select the "Event" option.
Step4
Move down one level and you will see "Event Sunrise."
Step5
Use the scroll down key to find the "Sunset" option in the "Event" menu and press "Enter."
Step6
Move down another level.
Step7
Autostar will now display the time of the coming sunset.

Tips & Warnings

  • Autostar will figure the sunset time based on your location, the time and the date.
