Setting your telescope to automatically track objects as the Earth rotates will eliminate the need to constantly readjust your device. As the telescope automatically tracks an object, it will generally remain in the center of the eyepiece.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Meade LX90GPS Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope

Step1
After you have completed the "Automatic Alignment" procedure, "Select: Object" will display on Autostar II.
Step2
Choose a star from one of the object menus. Line up the object using the viewfinder. Center the star in the eyepiece using the arrow keys on Autostar.

Tips & Warnings

  • Before automatically tracking an object, you must initialize Autostar and choose "Targets: Astronomical" from the Autostar Setup Menu.
  • After completing step 2, you will hear the tracking motors start; they keep the star in the center of the eyepiece.
