Step1
Make sure you have tightened the Dec and RA locks and correctly attached Autostar to your telescope.
Step2
Turn on the telescope.
Step3
When Press "0" to align or "Mode" for Menu appears on the display, press "0."
Step4
"Automatic Alignment" will appear on the display. The telescope will automatically perform several procedures, including detecting the level of the base of the telescope, finding north and attempting a GPS Fix.
Step5
The telescope will now align two stars to orient itself. This process starts when "Automatic Alignment: Selecting Star" and "Slewing" appear on the display. When the telescope is ready, "Center Brightest Star: Press Enter" appears on the display. Using the arrow keys, center the brightest star in the eyepiece and press "Enter."
Step6
The telescope will move to the second alignment star. "Center Brightest Star: Press Enter" will appear on the display. Using the arrow keys, center the alignment star in the eyepiece and press "Enter."
Step7
"Alignment Successful" will appear on the display.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you see "Alignment Unsuccessful" in the display in Step 7, repeat Step 6.
  • If a building or other object obstructs your view in Step 5, press the "Scroll Down" key to find another star for alignment.
