The menu option "Landmarks" defines and stores the location of objects in the sky. Use this function as a reference while using your telescope.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Meade DSX-125C Altazimuth-Cassegrain telescope

Step1
Set the telescope in the "Home" position.
Step2
Find the "Setup Targets" menu option.
Step3
Select "Terrestrial" and then "Enter."
Step4
Press "Mode" once. "Select Item Setup" will appear.
Step5
Scroll down to "Select Item Object" and select "Enter."
Step6
Scroll up to "Object Landmarks." Press "Enter."
Step7
Scroll down to "Landmark Add" and press "Enter."
Step8
Use the arrow keys to enter the name of the landmark. Press "Enter."
Step9
Use the arrow keys to move your telescope to the landmark. Center it in the eyepiece. Select "Enter."

Tips & Warnings

  • In order to utilize the "Landmark" function, you must situate and align your telescope as it was when you added the landmark to the database.
  • In Step 9, be sure to use the arrow keys rather than manually moving the telescope.
