How to Edit a Site Programmed Into Autostar on Your Meade DSX-125C Altazimuth-Cassegrain Telescope

Autostar's database does not carry an exhaustive list of geographic sites. Follow these steps to enter a site that is not already stored within the database.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

• Meade DSX-125C Altazimuth-Cassegrain telescope

1. Add the closest site on Autostar to your saved sites.
2. Use the scroll keys to find "Site Edit."
3. Press "Enter." Press "Enter" again when "Edit Name" appears on the display.
4. Scroll to the site you added in Step 1.
5. Use the arrow keys to change the name of the site. Press "Enter," and "Edit Name" will appear again on the display.
6. Use the scroll down key until "Edit Latitude" appears on the display. Select "Enter."
7. Use the number keys to enter the latitude of the site and select "Enter."
8. Use the scroll down key until you see "Edit Longitude." Press "Enter."
9. Use the number keys to enter your longitude and select "Enter."
10. Use the scroll down key until you see "Edit Time Zone." Press "Enter." If your site is in the same time zone as the site you selected in Step 1, press "Enter" again. If not, scroll until you find your time zone.

Tips & Warnings

• You must know the latitude and longitude of the desired site before performing this task.
• You can use the "Custom" feature to add a site that is not optional on your telescope. However, the above procedure is simpler since you probably won't have to change the time zone.
• To change the time zone, use the "Minus" button if you are west of Greenwich and the "Plus" button if you are east of Greenwich. Press either the "Minus" or "Plus" button one time for each hour you want to shift from Greenwich.
