With "Easy Align," you can efficiently locate objects using Autostar's GO TO capabilities. Autostar will choose two stars for its database and then slew the telescope to a first alignment star. Once the viewer indicates that the star is in the center of the eyepiece, the telescope repeats the process with a second star.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Meade DSX-125C Altazimuth-Cassegrain telescope

Step1
After performing the initialization procedure with Autostar, press "Enter" when you see "Setup Align" on the display.
Step2
Press "Enter" when you see "Align Easy" on the display.
Step3
You will now set the telescope in the "Alt/Az Alignment" home position by loosening the Altitude Lock on the telescope. Then, using the triangular pointer, you will level the optical tube by lining up zero degrees on the "Altitude Setting" circle. Screw down the Altitude Lock to a firm feel. Turn the telescope horizontally until it points north by loosening the tripod base knob. Finally, screw down the tripod base lock knob and press "Enter."
Step4
Now the telescope will slew to the brightest star in the sky. Use the arrow keys if the star is not centered in the eyepiece and press "Enter." Perform this procedure again for the second star.
Step5
"Alignment Successful" will now be displayed.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be sure that you have initialized Autostar before aligning the telescope.
  • If you do not get the "Alignment Successful" message in step 5, repeat step 4.
  • The alignment star will likely change nightly.
