How to Initialize Autostar for Your Meade DSX-125C Altazimuth-Cassegrain Telescope

You must initialize Autostar the first time you use your Meade DSX-125C Altazimuth-Cassegrain telescope and then again after resetting it. Follow these steps and you can start enjoying this remarkable device.

Things You’ll Need:

• Meade DSX-125C Altazimuth-Cassegrain Telescope

1. Make sure the tripod base lock knob and the Altitude Lock are tight.
2. Make sure Autostar is installed correctly on your telescope.
3. Turn on the telescope.
4. Press the key prompted by the telescope to indicate that you have read the warning about the sun.
5. Press "Enter" to bypass the "Help" tutorial.
6. Use the arrow keys to enter the month and then press "Enter."
7. Use the number keys to enter the time and the arrow keys to enter a.m. or p.m.
8. Use the scroll keys and then press "Enter" to indicate the status of daylight saving time.
9. Select the country you are in by using the scroll keys and then press "Enter."
10. Select the city closest to you by using the scroll keys and then press "Enter."
11. Use the scroll keys to indicate the model number of your telescope and then press "Enter."
12. The screen will now read "Align Easy." The alignment process is complete.

Tips & Warnings

• Be patient when performing step 3. The telescope will take a few moments to start and warm up.
• In step 7, you can set the telescope to military time by pressing "Enter" without a.m. or p.m. displayed.
• In step 8, be aware that daylight saving time may be called a different name in different parts of the world.
• You will only need to enter the country, state, city and model number the first time you use Autostar.
