How to Use Autostar to Identify an Object with Your Meade DSX-90 Altazimuth-Cassegrain Telescope

You can use the arrow keys on Autostar to identify objects you have found in the sky with your Meade DSX-90 Altazimuth-Cassegrain telescope. Center any object and use the "Identify" menu to determine what the object is. Here's how to do it.

Things You’ll Need:

  • Meade DSX-90 Altazimuth-Cassegrain telescope

Step1
Center the object in the eyepiece.

Step2
Find the "Object Identify" option and select "Enter."

Step3
You will now see "Searching..." on the display. After a moment, Autostar will display the name of the closest object.

Step4
If you would like to read information on the object, use the scroll key.

Tips & Warnings

  • In order to use this function, the telescope needs to be in the home position and Autostar needs to be initialized. You will not be able to move the telescope after it has been initialized if this function is to work correctly.
