How to Edit a Site Programmed into Autostar on Your Meade DSX-90 Altazimuth-Cassegrain Telescope

Autostar does not list every site on the Earth; you might have to edit a site's name, latitude, longitude and time zone shift. Follow these steps to enter the information.

Things You’ll Need:

• Meade DSX-90 Altazimuth-Cassegrain telescope

1. Add the closest site on Autostar to your saved sites.
   
   
2. Use the scroll keys to find "Site Edit."
   
   
3. Press "Enter." Press "Enter" again when you see "Edit Name" on the display.
   
   
4. Scroll to the site you just added in step 1.
   
   
5. Use the arrow keys to change the name of the site. Press "Enter" and "Edit Name" will appear again on the display.
   
   
6. Use the "Scroll Down" key until you see "Edit Latitude" on the display and select "Enter."
   
   
7. Use the number keys to enter the latitude of the site and select "Enter."
   
   
8. Use the "Scroll Down" key until you see "Edit Longitude" and press "Enter."
   
   
9. Use the number keys to enter your longitude and press "Enter."
   
   
10. Use the "Scroll Down" keys until you see "Edit Time Zone" and press "Enter." If your site is in the same time zone as the site you selected in step 1, press "Enter" again. If not, scroll until you find your time zone.
    
    

Tips & Warnings

• You must know the latitude and longitude on the site before attempting to edit.
• Use the custom feature to add a site that is not an option on your telescope. However, the above procedure is simpler since you probably won't have to change the time zone.
• For the time zone, use the "Minus" button if you are west of Greenwich and the "Plus" button if you are east of Greenwich. Press either button one time for each hour shift from Greenwich.
