How to Restore Videos From an iTunes Backup

You can back up your videos and music to a CD or DVD using iTunes. With this feature you won't lose expensive videos stored on your hard drive should the drive crash. If you must restore your videos from an iTunes backup, follow these steps.

Insert your iTunes backup disk into your disk drive. The following message should appear: "Would you like to restore from this backup disk?"
Step2
Click on "Restore" to select.
Step3
Videos on the disk will be copied to your iTunes directory and a disk icon will be installed on your desktop. Browse this directory to verify your videos have been recovered.

Tips & Warnings

  • For help backing up to a disk, review the eHow article on backing up your music and videos with iTunes.
  • When the intial restore starts, iTunes will indicate the date when the files appeared on the disk. Make sure you restore the most recent backup version.
  • iTunes backup will not function unless you have installed a CD/DVD drive with autoplay installed.
