iTunes 7 makes it easier to back up your iTunes library, playlists and iTunes store purchases. The "Back Up to Disc" feature saves your media to a blank disk (CD or DVD). iTunes can use that backup disk to automatically restore your iTunes library.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • CD or DVD
  • Computer
  1. Step 1

    Open iTunes.

  2. Step 2

    Insert your backup disk.

  3. Step 3

iTunes will ask whether you want to restore from this disk. Click "Restore."

Tips & Warnings
  • To reduce the number of disks needed for a backup, iTunes can perform incremental backups on items added or changed since the last backup.
  • iTunes will copy the files that fit on one disk and then ask you to insert subsequent disks to continue copying the remaining files.
  • Don't eject a disk while a backup is in progress.
  • You cannot back up spoken programs purchased from the Audible.com Web site.
  • You can only use the disks you create using the iTunes backup feature for restoration. You cannot play them in a CD or DVD player.
