How to Use PictoChat on a Nintendo DS Lite

You can use PictoChat on a Nintendo DS Lite to post messages in a chat room, send drawings to your friends and read what others have written. This local wireless network feature is built into the DS Lite and works within 60 feet of the system. Here are some guidelines for using PictoChat on a Nintendo DS Lite.

        Turn on the power for the Nintendo DS Lite and access the main menu.

        Tap the "PictoChat Selection" panel on the touch screen. This will pull up a selection of chat rooms, labeled "A" through "D."

        Use the direction control pad to highlight the chat room you wish to enter. Then press the "A" button or use your stylus to tap on the room.

        View the messages you have received in this chat room by scrolling through the messages list using the "L" and "R" buttons.

        Use the touch screen keyboard to write a text message. When you are finished press the "Send" button to make your message available to everyone in the chat room.

        Use the pen tool to draw on the touch screen. Select the "Pen Tool" icon and then pick how thick you want the pen's line to be. Draw on the touch screen with the stylus. When you are finished, press "Send" to post your drawing to the chat room.

        Exit the chat room by tapping on the "Exit" button. This is a small 'X' in the upper right corner of the screen. Exit PictoChat in the same manner.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Each chat room can support up to 16 people at once. If one chat room is full, you and your friends can switch to another.

    • If you start the DS Lite and it is in automatic mode, the unit will start any DS Lite game that you have inserted in SLOT-1. Unless you change the DS Lite to operate in manual mode, you will need to remove all games from the DS Lite before trying to use PictoChat.

    • The chat room is a public area. Once you have posted something, anyone in the chat room may view or redistribute your posts without your consent.
