Instructions

    • 1

Turn on the Nintendo DS Lite and set the screen language. Either use the stylus to tap your language of preference or use the direction controls to choose the language you want.

    • 2

Enter a username. If you are really stuck for a good username, consider making a pig Latin version of your first name or adding a number to the end of your first name.

    • 3

Choose a screen color. This will be the primary color on the menu pages. The setting will not affect game play.

    • 4

Enter the time and date from the "Settings" menu. Tap the blue "Time/Date" icon and use the up and down arrows to adjust the day, month, hour and minute.

    • 5

Configure automatic or manual as your DS Lite's operation mode. In automatic mode, the DS Lite will play the game cards without requiring you to push the "Start" button. Manual mode allows access to the main menu before the games play.

    • 6

Go to the "User" icon in the "Settings" menu to enter the month and day of your birth. The Nintendo DS Lite will then post a message on your birthday to PictoChat.

    • 7

Confirm and exit the "Settings" menu. The Nintendo DS Lite will automatically shut down to save any settings you entered.

Tips & Warnings

  • When you first remove your Nintendo DS Lite from the box, check for cracks and other damage. If you find a flaw, repackage the device and follow the steps in your warranty to schedule a repair or order a replacement.

  • Your username can be no more than 10 characters long. The public area of PictoChat will display this name, so exercise discretion in your choice.

  • The PictoChat and Wi-Fi features of the Nintendo DS Lite allow you to play and interact with other gamers. These features also allow other people access to your information. Never give out your last name or home address in PictoChat or while chatting during a Wi-Fi game.
