How to Replace the Battery Cover on a Nintendo DS Lite
Unlike some handheld gaming systems, the Nintendo DS Lite makes it easy to replace the battery cover. With a Phillips screwdriver and a new battery cover at hand, you can make the replacement in only a few minutes. Aside from shipping, the time required to get a new battery cover from the Nintendo accessories Web site adds no more than a few minutes to the process.

Find a battery cover that matches the color of your Nintendo DS Lite. Currently, the battery cover is available in black, pink and white. Order the battery cover you need and wait for it to arrive.

Turn the Nintendo DS Lite over. With the hinged edge of the Nintendo DS Lite facing away from you, the battery cover will be on the right side of the machine. The battery cover is secured by a single screw.

Tips & Warnings
If your Nintendo DS Lite battery cover seems to be substandard or has defects, you may be able to get the battery cover replaced under the terms of the warranty. Check with Nintendo's customer service to find warranty information.
Secure the screw to a flat surface with masking tape while you are changing the battery cover. Remove the tape when you are ready to replace the screw.
Do not overtighten the screw that holds the battery cover in place. If you tighten the screw too much you will fracture the plastic around the screw.
