There are many ways to communicate wirelessly with another Nintendo DS Lite. You can use the built-in wireless capability of PictoChat, access your wireless network at home or go on the road to a Nintendo Hotspot. Communicating wirelessly with the Nintendo DS Lite is easy.

  • Nintendo DS Lite

PictoChat: The Easy Way to Do It

Step1
Turn on the Nintendo DS Lite and go to the Main Menu. Access the PictoChat feature and go into the same chat room as the other Nintendo DS Lite user.
Step2
Use the PictoChat features to communicate wirelessly. The maximum range is 30 feet.

Wi-Fi Compatible Game: The Long Range Way to Do It

Step1
Insert a Wi-Fi compatible game into the Nintendo DS Lite. Pull up the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connections Setup screen.
Step2
Select the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connections Settings with your stylus and then tap on a Connection slot. These are numbered and displayed side-by-side on the screen.
Step3
Tap on the “Search for an Access Point” panel on the next screen. This will show you the name of the wireless access point that you can use to communicate wirelessly with another Nintendo DS Lite.
Step4
Look to the right of the access point’s name. You should see a padlock icon and a signal strength bar. If the padlock icon is unlocked and blue, just tap on the name and confirm your selection.
Step5
Go back to your main menu. You are now able to play wirelessly. The game you are playing will either let you chat freely with other players on the network or only with players that have your Friend Code.

Tips & Warnings

  • Some games will support microphones. This feature allows you to talk directly to other players. Microphones are available as accessory items.
  • Not all Nintendo DS Lite games have a wireless chat feature. Check the game manual for more information about the chat feature.
  • Other wireless networks and devices may interfere with the DS Lite’s wireless ability.
