Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Nintendo DS
- Owner's manual
Step1
Ask yourself if the battery is taking longer and longer to charge. If the answer to this question is yes, then you may need to replace your battery. The longer the battery takes to charge, the older it is.
Step2
Think about how long this battery has been in your Nintendo DS. Your battery is only good for 500 recharges. After that magic number, you will need to replace the battery.
Step3
Examine the battery. Has the battery been compromised in any way? Is it corroded or leaking? If the battery is damaged, replace it as soon as possible.
Step4
Has the battery pack gotten wet? If so, get rid of it. Never use a battery pack that has come in contact with a liquid.
Step5
Consider the battery’s ability to hold a charge. Has the battery been running down more quickly than usual? This is a sign that the battery is getting to the end of its lifespan and it might be time to replace it.
Step6
Has the battery been exposed to extreme heat or cold? If so, the available charge on the battery will decrease.
Step7
Look over the above list. Now that you have asked yourself all these questions, you’ll know if you need to replace your battery or not. If you need to replace it, contact a Nintendo dealer and get a new one.
