You have a very cool Nintendo DS and occasionally you'll need to charge its battery. Recharging is a very simple process that will ensure many fun hours of play. Follow these steps to charge the battery on a Nintendo DS.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Nintendo DS
  • Battery charger
  1. Step 1

Get out your owner's manual. It is always a good idea to have all the information you can at your disposal. If you don't have a copy of your owner's manual, you can find one online. The manual contains a whole chapter on how to charge your battery, as well as a troubleshooting section that can help you with most problems.

  2. Step 2

Charge the battery when you haven't used the unit in a while (it is good to recharge the battery every two months if it's not being used). A red "Low Battery" light will come on when it is running low.

  3. Step 3

Plug the adapter into the unit. Make sure that you are putting the right end into your Nintendo and that you are connecting the plug in the right direction. Putting it in the wrong way can damage the unit.

  4. Step 4

Press the plug of the adapter firmly into the wall. Remember not to force the plug and to plug and un-plug by pulling on the plug rather than the cord.

  5. Step 5

Wait about 4 hours for the battery to recharge fully. When the battery is done charging, the orange recharge light will go out. Remove the adapter's plug from the wall and then remove the plug from the unit. Store the cord neatly, as wrapping the cord carelessly can lead to unnecessary wear and tear.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can use the unit while it is charging; it will just increase the charging time.
  • The Nintendo DS battery has about 500 charges in it, which means you can charge it about 500 times before it will wear out completely.
  • Only use the AC adapter provided with your Nintendo DS.
  • Keep the system away from water. If the battery gets wet, replace it.
