How to Update Your Whois Information at Yahoo! Domains

Whois information is data about the millions of domain names, regardless of where in the world they are registered. As required by ICANN, the Internet governance organization, this information is publicly available via Whois database interfaces. If you registered your domain name using Yahoo! Personal Address, the personal information you provided in your order was used to register your domain name. You can edit the Whois contact information associated with your domain name by accessing your Domain Control Panel and clicking the Registration Information link. To access the Domain Control Panel, follow the following steps.

Instructions

1. Sign in to the Domain Control Panel (see below). You will be asked to sign in if you haven't already done so.

2. Click the Registration Information link.

3. Click the Edit button.

4. Edit the fields for Domain Registrant and Administrative Contact as necessary.

5. Click Update. Otherwise, If you moved your domain name from another service to Yahoo! Domains, updating your domain name's contact information can only be done through your domain name registrar. To access the Domain Control Panel, please follow the following steps.

6. Sign in to your Business Control Panel (see below). If you have not yet signed in with your Yahoo! ID and password, you'll be prompted to do so here.

7. Once signed in, you will see modules for each of your domain names on the Manage My Services page. Select the Domain Control Panel link that corresponds to the domain whose record you wish to edit.

8. Click the Registration Information link.

9. Click the Edit button.

10. Edit the fields for Domain Registrant and Administrative Contact as necessary.

11. Click Update.

Tips & Warnings

• Your modified record may not be visible in Yahoo!'s WHOIS database for 24-48 hours from the time of the zone file update. This means that changes may take at least 24 hours to take effect.

• If you registered your domain name through Yahoo! before January 22, 2001, your domain name registrar is Network Solutions. You can update your contact information by going to the Network Solutions Web site (see below).
