On GoDaddy.com, WHOIS information is the data it keeps about millions of domain names, regardless of where in the world they're registered. As required by ICANN, the Internet governance organization, this information is publicly available. According to www.domainservices.com, “WHOIS databases contain nameserver, registrar, and in some cases, full contact information about a domain name. Each registrar must maintain a WHOIS database containing all contact information for the domains they 'host.' A central registry WHOIS database is maintained by the InterNIC. This database contains only registrar and nameserver information for all .com, .net and .org domains.” Follow these steps to modify your WHOIS information at GoDaddy.com.

Tips & Warnings

  • If changes are made to the WHOIS information for a certified domain, GoDaddy.com will immediately re-initiate the domain authorization and validation process to make certain that the owner still controls that certified domain.
  • Once a modification has been identified, GoDaddy.com sends out domain authorization email messages to the domain's registrant, administrative, and technical contacts as listed in the updated WHOIS information. As with the initial authentication process, all three recipients must approve the Certified Domain request.
  • The data contained in GoDaddy.com, Inc.'s WHOIS database is provided "as is" with no guarantee or warranties regarding its accuracy. This information is provided for the sole purpose of assisting you in obtaining information about domain name registration records. Any use of this data for any other purpose is expressly forbidden without the prior written permission of GoDaddy.com, Inc.
