The optical tube of your Meade DS-2000 gathers light from distant celestial bodies and brings the light into focus for you to observe through your eyepiece.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
First, insert the "optical tube" down into the "cradle ring".
Step2
Be sure to tighten the "cradle ring lock knob" just enough to hold the "optical tube " but with some slack.
Step3
You'll then want to slide the "optical tube" to and fro until the tube stays at a horizontal position. Do not tip the telescope up or down during this process.
Step4
After that, go ahead and tighten the "cradle rings lock knob" securely. Do not over-tighten.

Tips & Warnings

  • The optical tube attaches to the mounting arm assembly.
  • Be sure to keep the dust cap on the front of the optical tube until the attachment is finished.
  • Never point your telescope at the sun for any reason. This will cause irreversible damage to your eyes and the telescope.
  • Avoid touching the lenses on either side of the optical tube. This will leave fingerprints and scratch the lenses.
