In the course of using your HP iPAQ you may encounter the need to reset your machine. Maybe it froze or you need to wipe out all the information and start over. In any case, there are some steps you need to follow to reset your HP iPAQ. Follow these steps to reset an HP iPAQ.

Step1
Know your device. The best way to ensure that you do anything that will harm your investment is to have a little knowledge on your iPAQ. Play with the device, learn all you can about it. This is a sure fire way to make ANYTHING you do with it easier.
Step2
Read your manual. This goes along with knowing your device. There is tons of information in there, including frequently asked questions and common fixes to problems. Have this on hand when you have a problem with your iPAQ.
Step3
Know what kind of reset you need to do. Are you resetting because your device is frozen? In that case you just need to do a soft reset. You would do a hard reset to remove all settings and programs.
Step4
Do a soft reset. This is also referred to as a normal reset. You do this one when you just need to restart your system. Find your Reset button. The button will be a little indented. Use your stylus to press the reset button. You don’t need to push it very hard to reset the device.
Step5
Do a hard reset. This is also referred to as a full reset. This is to only be used when you want to clear all your settings and programs. First push the power button down and hold it. Now press the reset button. You will hold both buttons down at the same time. Then release the power button and then the reset button. This resets your device.

  • If you don’t have access to your manual, you can find a copy of it online at www.hp.com. There are all sorts of information there to help you with any problem you have with your iPAQ.
  • When your iPAQ freezes, make sure that you wait a minute before resetting it. Sometimes electronic equipment just needs a moment to ‘think’. This will save you some hassle.
  • Do not forget when performing a full reset that all settings will be lost. All information that is not recorded in iPAQ File Storage gets deleted.
