How to Create a New File Using GeoCities File Manager

You can use your Geocities File Manager to make new HTML files. With a little help, it is not that hard. Follow these steps to make a new file from your Geocities File Manager.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Access your Geocities Web page. Type in your username and password.

  2. Step 2

    Find the Create and Update tab. This tab will be light purple and will turn dark purple when you click it. Click this tab and it will take you to another page.

  3. Step 3

    Look for the File Management Tools section. Click on "File Manager" then click on "Open File Manager."

  4. Step 4

    Click the "New" button and it will open an html window. Once in the window, you can add all sorts of things via html. You can use links to pictures, other Web pages, etc.

  5. Step 5

    Give your file a name. Make sure not to use any special characters or spaces.

  6. Step 6

    Preview your file. Click the ‘Preview’ button to see what the file looks like.

  7. Step 7

    Save your file and you are done.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember your file name needs to have the extension of .htm or .html.
  • Do not forget to save your work. You cannot recover unsaved work.
