How to Use the On-Screen Keyboard on an HP iPAQ

Typing is an essential function of a PDA. Using the keyboard allows you to type emails, documents or message people using Internet programs. You can also use it to edit schedules, calendars and organizers. Follow these steps to learn how to use the on-screen keyboard on an HP iPAQ.

Things You’ll Need:

  • HP iPAQ
Step1
Remember to make sure your HP iPAQ is turned on. The power button can be found at the bottom of the device.
Step2
Touch the Input Panel icon that looks like a small keyboard. This is at the bottom left-hand side of your screen.
Step3
Tap the arrow button next to the Input Panel icon. A list of input choices will display.
Step4
Continue to tap the arrow until the option Keyboard is selected. Wait for the keyboard to appear on the screen.
Step5
Use the stylus to tap each letter until you have typed what you desired. Touch the OK button to finish.
Step6
Tap the backspace arrow to erase the previous letter. You can also edit by selecting the desired text with the stylus, and either tapping the backspace button or by tapping new text.

Tips & Warnings

  • To use symbols, tap the 123 or the Shift keys, then touch the desired symbol.
  • You can also write directly onto the screen with the stylus using the Letter Recognizer.
  • Touch the screen lightly so as not to damage the screen or the stylus.
