Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
Step1
Know your storage options. The one drawback to using your Dell Axim as a music player is the fact that with the limited memory of a PocketPC, you will run out of storage space rather quickly. Unlike your PC, you will not be able to store gigabytes of music on your PocketPC.
Step2
Familiarize yourself with file conversion. File conversion programs, some of which can be downloaded for free, can convert large media formats into smaller media formats. These smaller music files might sacrifice a fraction of the sound quality, but will eat up less of your Axim’s memory.
Step3
Purchase a memory card. Memory cards offer the most logical solution to the memory/storage dilemma. The Dell Axim is compatible with Flash and Secure Digital memory cards. After inserting the memory card into its slot, you can access the information written on an SD or CF card, click on the Start menu. From the Start menu, access Programs and then File Explorer.
Step4
Download the appropriate media player. Windows Media Player comes pre-installed on your Dell Axim. This media player is capable of supporting most of the commonly used media formats, and can download extensions when it runs across files that it cannot support. There are also a number of free media players that can be downloaded and installed on your Axim.
Step5
Know your music output. While the Dell Axim can store and play mp3's and audio files of multiple formats, it is not designed to be a self contained music player. The Axim comes with a mono speaker. However, when the Axim is used with headphones or linked with another device that has quality speaker output, it serves as a quality music player.
