How to Upload My Podcast to a Web Server Using the Control Panel

If you have your own Web site, you can easily upload your podcast by using the control panel on your Web server. If you are using one of the many podcast storage servers available, you can also upload your podcast using their control panel. Either way, the steps are basically the same. For the podcast to work properly, the Web server must support podcast publishing. The podcast must be able to be downloaded automatically and the Web server must be able to read the correct formats of the podcast.

Instructions

1. Log in to the Web server using the ID and password provided.

2. Locate the "Upload" or similar option on the control panel.

3. You will be asked where the file you want to upload is located.

4. Once you locate the file, you will need to direct where you want the podcast uploaded to.

5. Click "Upload" and wait until you get a message saying your file upload is complete.
   

6. The podcast files should now be located on your Web server and you are ready to publish.
   

Tips & Warnings

• When searching for your files, you are best to manually locate the file rather than to type in the location because often it is easy to change one letter, in which case the server won't be able to locate your file.
• After you have uploaded your podcast, you may want to use one of the validater services available online to make sure your podcast operates as it should.
• Submitting your podcast to as many directories as possible will gain more downloads of your podcast.
• Before uploading your podcast to a Web server, make sure the particular server supports podcast publishing.
• Make sure you have the address of your podcast correct. One small typing error can give you error messages.
