How to Use Microsoft Word on a Dell Axim

A pocket PC may be just what your busy life requires. It is a convenient way to transfer information between computers and organize your daily activities. A Dell Axim allows you to use the Windows programs that you've grown used to on your PC at home or the office. Follow these steps to use Microsoft Word on a Dell Axim.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Dell Axim
  • Stylus

Step1
Turn on your Dell Axim by pressing and holding the round power button on the front of your device.
Step2
Tap on “Start” with your stylus. The stylus replaces your mouse.
Step3
Tap “Programs” then drag the stylus across to "Pocket Word." Pocket Word is the Dell Axim version of Microsoft Word.
Step4
Tap "New" found at the bottom of the keyboard at the bottom of the screen. This creates a new document.
Step5
Tap and hold the arrow to the right of the keyboard icon. Select your desired method of entering data. Selecting "Keyboard" will allow you to type with your stylus on a keyboard. "Letter Recognizer" will allow you to write with your stylus like on a piece of paper. Tap "Enter" and the words are converted to type.
Step6
Format text by tapping the beginning of desired text, holding then dragging the stylus to the end of text to highlight. Then tap the respective editing command from the pop-up menu or tap "Edit" from the bottom of the screen for a list of possible editing commands.
Step7
Check spelling by tapping the desired text and selecting "Spelling" from the pop up menu. Choose a suggested word from the pop up box or tap "Ignore" to ignore the suggestions.

Tips & Warnings

  • Files will be saved as Pocket Word documents unless you convert them.
  • Windows mobile programs, including Pocket Word, are usually included with new Pocket PC purchases.
  • Pocket Word may be limited in its use of page borders, backgrounds and shapes and text boxes.
