How to Use Microsoft Excel on a Dell Axim

A Pocket PC can be a very convenient piece of equipment. You can use many of the programs you have become accustomed to on your PC at the office. Follow the steps below to use Microsoft Excel on a Dell Axim.

Things You’ll Need:

  • Dell Axim
  • Stylus
Step1
Turn on your Dell Axim by pressing and holding the round power button on the front of your device.
Step2
Tap on “Start”with your stylus. The stylus replaces your mouse.
Step3
Tap “Programs” then drag the stylus across to "Pocket Excel."
Step4
Use your stylus to tap the cells instead of left clicking.
Step5
Enter information into each cell by typing it with your stylus on the keyboard and number pad.
Step6
Color your cells to help them stand out by selecting "Format Cells", then "Borders." A fill menu will pop up from which you can select your desired color.
Step7
Turn off column headings to give yourself more room to see your file. Tap "View," then deselect row/column headings.
Step8
Calculate values by tapping "View" then "Status Bar." Choose the scope of numbers you want calculated. Select the function and value from the "AutoCalculate" area to the right of the status bar. Tap the "AutoCalculate" arrow and choose the desired kind of calculation. The answer will be present in the "AutoCalculate" area.

Tips & Warnings

  • Consider purchasing ActiveSync from Microsoft to synchronize information from your Pocket PC to your home or office PC.
  • Windows mobile programs, including Pocket Excel, are usually included with new Pocket PC purchases.
  • Cells will be small because it is a smaller screen.
