How to Synchronize Email on a Dell Axim with Outlook

The hustle and bustle of today's workplace makes it imperative for many business people to stay connected to their office and their clients. For this reason, the ability to receive and respond to emails within minutes is very important. One great device that can help you do this is the Dell Axim Handheld PC. Using your device's keypad, it only takes a few keystrokes in order to synchronize email on a Dell Axim with Outlook, which is one of the major email programs available on most computers.

Things You'll Need:

• Stylus
• Dell Axim

1. Turn your Dell Axim's power on. This can be done by pressing the power button.

2. Press the "Mail" button if you prefer using your device's keypad. Otherwise, use the stylus to select the "Mail" option on your screen. This should take you to the screen where you can set up your email settings for your device.

3. Open the "Menus" folder by double-clicking it with the stylus or the keypad. From that screen, you want to select "Accounts" and then the "Manage" options. These selections can either be done by pressing the "OK" or "Enter" key on your keypad or by tapping the option with your stylus.

4. Select the "New" option from the next screen. From that menu, select the email provider that you want to download emails from automatically on your Dell Axim. Email providers consist of Yahoo, AOL, Google, etc.

5. Type in a name for this account in the box provided. For example, "My AOL Email" would be a good, concise description. After entering that, you will then have to enter your sign-in name and password that you use for this email account.

6. Select "Next" from that screen's menu. Again, this can either by done with the stylus or the keypad.

7. Start synchronizing your email messages from the selected account by selecting "Sync Now" from that screen's menu. You can also download your messages at a later time by selecting the "Sync Later" option.

Tips & Warnings

• Unread emails that are downloaded onto your Dell Axim will appear in bold for quick recognition.
• You can sort your messages by alphabetical order, chronology or even message size.
• Emails with attachments could be harmful to your Dell Axim if the attachment contains a virus. Be careful when opening attachments.
• If you want to be alerted when you have a new email, make sure your message settings are set up to for this to happen.
