Back up the data on your Dell Axim (see Related eHows). There are programs that you can download onto your device that will walk you through this. Or, synchronize the device with your PC. Either way, be sure that you have your data saved somewhere.
Step2
Do a hard reset on your Dell Axim. Gently press the stylus into the reset hole of the device while holding down the power button. This deletes any data, programs or applications that did not come with the Dell Axim. Any data that was on the device when you bought it will remain intact.
Step3
Turn the Dell Axim back on after a few minutes. Do not turn it back on immediately—this is not good for the inner components.
Step4
Begin restoring your data onto the device. Drag and drop the data from the backup source.
Step5
Reinstall the applications. The screen problem was likely caused by one of the applications installed on your device. Reinstalling these applications separately will identify which application created the problem.
Step6
Test each application. When the screen problem occurs again, you will know which one caused the malfunction.
Step7
Uninstall and delete the offending application. The screen on your Dell Axim should work properly after this.
Tips & Warnings
Always try a soft reset before a hard reset. A soft reset is merely rebooting your device. With a soft reset, you do not lose your programs and applications.
If no backup program is available, you can connect your device to your PC through a USB port. You can then transfer your data to your PC for later reinstallation onto your Dell Axim.
Visit the manufacturer's Web site. There are support forums and options to chat online with the manufacturer's support technicians.
Check your replacement warranty information. If a hard reset does not solve the problem, it may be more serious and need repair.
Read the warranty information carefully. If it is still in effect, make sure you do not do something that will void the warranty.
