How to Create an HTML Page Using the GeoCities HTML Editor

GeoCities lets you create your own free Web site using the HTML editor. Here's how to do it.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Internet access
  • Computer
  • GeoCities account

Step1
Sign in to the GeoCities Web site. You must have a Yahoo! account to use GeoCities.
Step2
Type in your username and password and log in to GeoCities. Answer the questions on the login page, type in the code at the bottom of the screen and press the “Submit” button.
Step3
Click on the “Create and Update” tab at the top of your screen. Click on the "Yahoo! PageBuilder" link. Click “Launch PageBuilder."
Step4
Insert text, pictures and links on your page by pressing the corresponding buttons at the top of your browser in the PageBuilder window.
Step5
Click on the “Add On” button to add characteristics to your Web site such as background, headlines, interactive links and other Web site elements. Go through the list of options in the “Add On” box.
Step6
Click and save the Web site when you are finished. Name your page and click “Yes” when PageBuilder asks if you want to post your page. Preview your page by clicking on the “Preview” button in the PageBuilder.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure that your computer has Java before you load the PageBuilder. You can get JavaScript from the Yahoo! site.
  • Don’t post private information on your Web site.
