How to Install a Battery on a Dell Axim

The Dell Axim is a versatile hand-held device or PDA. Each model is equipped with a powerful battery that allows many hours of continuous use. This main battery is replaceable. If you have an extra battery, you can replace one that is low on power so that you can keep using your PDA. Read on to learn how to install a battery on a Dell Axim.

Things You'll Need:

  • Dell Axim
  • Stylus
  1. Step 1

    Check that the Dell Axim unit is powered off.

  2. Step 2

    Find the battery cover latch on the rear of the unit.

  3. Step 3

    Fit the stylus against the latch button and push it to the “Unlock” position, causing the battery cover to come loose. Remove the cover.

  4. Step 4

    Position the battery so that its contacts are correctly oriented with the contacts inside the battery well.

  5. Step 5

    Slide in the battery until it clicks into place.

  6. Step 6

    Replace the battery cover.

Tips & Warnings
  • The X5 model also uses a backup battery, a lithium coin-cell. Before the initial operation of the unit, check that both types of batteries have been installed and that the main battery has been charged for four or more hours.
  • You should connect the Dell Axim to a power outlet whenever possible to maintain the main battery power.
  • The main battery can also be charged using the Sync cradle.
  • Avoid removing the main battery and the backup battery at the same time. Doing so may cause you to lose some data.
