Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet access
  • Computer
  • GeoCities account
  1. Step 1

Find the Easy Upload feature under the “Create and Update” tab on the GeoCities Control Panel home page. This opens the upload page, which has five spaces for filenames, each with a “Browse” button located to the right.

  2. Step 2

Look through the files and documents saved to your computer by clicking the “Browse” button. This opens a “Choose Files” window which you can use to hunt through your computer for the file you want to Easy Upload to send to the File Manager.

  3. Step 3

Click on the document you want to upload, and click on the “Open” button at the bottom of the “Choose File” window. The filename will appear in the box on the Easy Upload window. You can select more than one document to upload at the same time.

  4. Step 4

Click “Upload Files” when finished hunting for document files. This starts the upload process, which takes a few minutes. When the computer is done uploading your documents, you will be sent to a "Results" page.

  5. Step 5

Check the status of each document that you attempted to upload. The status is displayed next to each filename.

  6. Step 6

Use the File Manager to apply the file to your GeoCities Web page.

Tips & Warnings
  • Here are some common extensions to look for if you are hunting for document files on your computer: “.doc,” “.txt” or “.rtf.”
  • If you have multiple documents to upload, pay attention to the total size of the upload. The limit for any one batch is 5 MB. If you go over this limit, simply clear the files from Easy Upload and try two separate batches to get your documents into the file manager.
  • The “Clear” button at the bottom of the Easy Upload window removes the filenames from all of the browse boxes, not just one.
  • Get rid of spaces in your filenames before you upload, otherwise you will get the “invalid filename” result. Run words together or use dashes if you need separation between words.
