Your GeoCities Web page does not have to be just plain old text. The Free GeoCities Image Library is a resource for the beginning Web designer that offers a selection of images and icons for you to copy and paste to your site. Follow these steps to add images from the free GeoCities Image Library to your page.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet access
  • Computer
  • GeoCities account
  1. Step 1

Navigate from the GeoCities Control Panel to the Free Image Library by clicking on the "Create and Update" tab, then scroll down to the “Other Tools for Creating amd Editing Web Sites” section. There, you will select “Add-Ons,” which will take you to a page of options. Scroll down the page to the “Site Tools” option and click on the “Free Image Library” link.

  2. Step 2

Click on the type of image you want. The library offers you several image types, from arrows to clip art to icons and lines. Each type is divided into sub-types which are arranged in folders.

  3. Step 3

Select a sub-type and keep narrowing down the range of choices offered to you until you find the image files.

  4. Step 4

Click on an image file to see what it looks like. A thumbnail shows up on the right side of the library window, and the URL of the image appears at the bottom of the Free Image Library window.

  5. Step 5

Copy the URL code exactly, and head to GeoCities File Manager. Paste the URL code to your page editor. Open the editor and get your page ready to make changes.

  6. Step 6

Paste the code into the desired image location and preview the change. Make adjustments as you see fit.

  7. Step 7

    Save when finished.

Tips & Warnings
  • Have a preview window of your page up while you are choosing images so you can compare and match colors of the images to the color scheme of your GeoCities Web site.
  • If you see a folder icon to the left of a link, it is not an image. Keep digging until you see an image icon and file extensions such as “.gif” or “.jpeg.”
  • URLs have to be copied exactly to work. Make sure that you have the complete address if you run into problems getting an image from the library to your page.
