How to Link Your Yahoo Briefcase to Your GeoCities Page

Linking your Yahoo Briefcase to your Geocities page is a little more difficult than adding other functions to your page. You have to create a Briefcase on Yahoo first before you can post it to your Web page. The steps below will help you create and link Yahoo Briefcase to your Geocities page.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet access
  • Computer
  • Geocities account
  • Yahoo account
  1. Step 1

    Log on to Geocities. Go to the "Management" section by clicking on the "Management" tab.

  2. Step 2

    Click on the "File Manager" link which you will find in the "File Manager" toolbox. Click on "Open File Manager" link.

  3. Step 3

    Look for the Yahoo Briefcase link near the bottom left-hand corner of the page under the "Storage" options heading and click on it. Type in the word that you are asked to type in to create your Briefcase and Yahoo will create a Briefcase.

  4. Step 4

    Write down the link you notice at the top of your page. Now click on "Create and Update" on the Geocities page and open the Yahoo PageBuilder.

  5. Step 5

    Click on the text box and type in "Link to my Briefcase." Place the link in a visible spot which is not overlapping another link or part of the page.

  6. Step 6

    Now click the text box that you just typed in link to my Briefcase. Click on the "Link" button on the PageBuilder toolbox near the top of the window.

  7. Step 7

    Click on the drop down arrow and select other from the list. Type in the Web address you wrote down in step 4 and enter it in the site location box and press "Enter." Your link is now created.

Tips & Warnings
  • Create your briefcase first before you create a link.
  • Put the link in a visible place with a visible lettering.
  • Don’t store personal information in your briefcase and keep track of how much information is in your briefcase.
