How to Create a New HTML Page Using GeoCities File Manager

Geocities is an easy way to make your own free Web site online. Geocities can be used by anyone and the HTML editor on the site will help you make your basic Web site without much trouble. Below is a list of steps to help create a HTML page with Geocities HTML editor.

Things You'll Need:

  • Inernet access
  • Computer
  • Geocities account
  1. Step 1

    Go to the Geocities Web site and click the "Sign in" button near the top of the screen. You will need to have a Yahoo account, if you don’t already have one, to use Geocities. Click on “Sign Up” under the "Login" box and follow the steps to create a username and password.

  2. Step 2

    Type in your username and password and log in to Geocities. Answer the questions that you are asked on the login page and type in the code at the bottom of your screen and press the "Submit" button.

  3. Step 3

    Click on the "Create and Update" tab at the top of your screen. Click on the "Yahoo PageBuilder" link. Look for the “Launch PageBuilder” and click on it.

  4. Step 4

    Insert text pictures and links on your page by pressing the corresponding buttons at the top of your browser in the PageBuilder window.

  5. Step 5

    Click on the "Add-on" button to add characteristics to your Web site such as background, headlines, interactive links and many other Web site elements. Go through the list of options in the "Add-on" box, and there are many to choose from.

  6. Step 6

    Click and save the Web site when you are finished. Name your page and click "Yes" when the PageBuilder asks you if you want to post your page. Your page is now posted.

Tips & Warnings
  • Preview your page at any time by clicking on the "Preview" button on the PageBuilder.
  • Make sure your computer has Java before you load the PageBuilder.
  • Don’t post personal information that you don’t want people to see.
