You probably have a bunch of home videos that you want all your friends and family to see. Using the Internet to share your home movies is easier than ever. Now you can use your Geocities Web site to show off your home videos. Follow these steps to turn your GeoCities Web site into a mini home movie theater.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet access
  • Computer
  • Geocities account
  1. Step 1

Decide what videos you want to show off. It is easier if you organize the files and label them well. It will help you avoid confusion if you make a special folder on your desktop for the videos you want to share.

  2. Step 2

Get on your Geocities account. Go to the GeoCities Web site and put your user name and password in. When using Yahoo, you already have a screen name and password. Follow the easy instructions on how to get a new account.

  3. Step 3

Go to the file manager and upload your video file off of your computer. Just follow the instructions on the page and get your file in the manager for use.

  4. Step 4

Add this HTML code on the page where you want the video to go.
(Note that file.mpg is the name of your file. Also the width and height are entirely up to you.) You can put this code anywhere on your page with little difficulty.

  5. Step 5

Preview your page. After you add the video, click the "Preview" button. This is the time that you can tweak the size of the video to make it fit perfectly on your page.

  6. Step 6

Save your work. This is very important as it is upsetting to make your page just right and not save it. You will lose all your work.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember that the name of your file is case sensitive.
  • If you can, check your page from another computer or have a friend do it for you. This way you can make sure that the file is working properly.
  • Do not forget that you can adjust the size of the video using the height and width values in the HTML code. You can make the video as big or as small as you need. Don't be afraid to try it out using trial and error.
