How to Upload an MPC with GeoCities File Manager

An MPC file is a music file, and it is much like an MP3. It is normally a bit better quality than a regular MP3 file. You can add your MPC files to your Geocities Web site. It is rather easy and simply following these steps will get you on your way to uploading MPC files with Geocities File Manager.

Things You’ll Need:

• Internet access
• Computer
• Geocities account

1. Organize yourself. Find the files you want to add to your Web site. Save them to a place on your computer that you can get to easily.
2. Log on to your Geocities account. You can either sign up for a new one or use your existing Yahoo email name and password to access the Geocities features.
3. Click on the "Create and Update" tab on the top of your homepage. This is towards the top of the page. It is light purple, but when clicked it will turn dark purple. This way you know you're in the right place.
4. Go down the page, and inside the "Create and Update" section, almost all the way to the bottom, you will find a section labeled "File Management Tools." This is where you find the File Manager. Click on the "File Manager" button.
5. Click "Open File Manager." This opens the place where all of your files for your Web page are stored. You need to upload your MPC file to here to be able to use it on your site.
6. Find the "Upload Files" button. If you look a bit down the page, it should be right above the files you already have uploaded and will be on your right hand side. Click the "Upload Files" button.
7. Find and click the "Browse" button. This allows you to search your computer for the MPC file that you want to upload. Once you have located the file, click "Open." Look to make sure that the correct file name is showing up in the box next to "Browse." Is it right? If not, just click "Browse" and do it again.
8. Repeat the previous step as many times as you want with all the files you want to upload. When doing more than five at a time, click the "Add More Files" button. This allows more files to be uploaded at once.
9. Click the "Upload Files" button. As soon as you see the "Upload Successful" message, you have uploaded your MPC file. You can return to File Manager to do any other work you need to do.

Tips & Warnings

• Check all the file types when you first launch File Manager. It is the default setting. But, you need to have them all checked to view all the files in the File Manager.
• Your file name should look like this: filename.mpc (without any spaces or special characters).
• Do not attempt to upload more files than you have space for on your plan.
