You can connect an external monitor to an iBook. An external monitor gives you the facility of video mirroring. Video mirroring allows you to view the desktop on both the monitors–the laptop’s internal monitor as well as the external monitor. Moreover, you can simply use a larger and higher resolution monitor with the iBook, which has a smaller internal display. Here’s how you can connect an external monitor with an iBook.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • External monitor
  • iBook
  • VGA display adapter
Step1
Plug in the monitor's power cable and switch it on.
Step2
Connect one end of the VGA display adapter (included with all standard monitors) to the external monitor port of your iBook.
Step3
Connect the other end of the VGA adapter to the external monitor. The iBook automatically detects the monitor. Your monitor is now ready to use.

Tips & Warnings

  • Ensure that the resolution of the external monitor is compatible with the iBook. Compatible resolutions include 640 by 480 pixels, 800 by 600 pixels and 1024 by 768 pixels. Refer to the iBook’s manual for more details.
