Having your own Web page is all about putting your personality out there for an online community to see. With Yahoo! PageBuilder, you have the ability to alter the background color of your Web page. Follow these steps to change the background color of a Web page in Yahoo! PageBuilder.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet access
  • Computer
  • Yahoo! account
  1. Step 1

Open Yahoo! PageBuilder. This is the program you use to create and edit your Web page. Find the PageBuilder icon or open it from the Programs list.

  2. Step 2

Locate the “Add-On” button in the toolbar at the top of the PageBuilder screen. Click that button and a smaller Add-Ons screen will open.

  3. Step 3

Find the Add-Ons screen. On the left side of this screen (labeled “Categories”), click on the word “Basics.” Then on the right side of the window (labeled “Add-Ons”), click the “Background” icon. This will open a window that will ask you to set the visual properties of the background.

  4. Step 4

Use the Background Properties Window-Templates. At the top of this window will be a drop-down “Collection” list. Choose “Template Pages” from this list. Underneath that list will be a “Picture” list. From this list, you can explore all of the template background designs. There is even an image preview screen on the right-hand side of the window.

  5. Step 5

Use the Background Properties Window-Color. You do not have to set a template design for your background. You simply can choose a background color. To do this, click the “Select Background Color” button.

  6. Step 6

Finalize your decision. When you find a template design and/or background color that you like, hit “Enter” or click “OK” at the bottom of the Background Properties window. The background changes will take effect immediately.

Tips & Warnings
  • Choose a color that matches the overall appearance of your Web page. The background color is apart of your web page’s physical appearance. Make sure you choose a color that will have a positive effect on visitors to your page.
  • Make sure that your background color works well with the template background image and the color of the Web page’s text. Some font styles, sizes and colors can make the text on your Web page clash with background color.
  • Do not choose a background that will clash with the color of the text. This will make it difficult to read the Web page. Try to make the page more attractive.
