We have all heard that a picture is worth a thousand words. Adding images and pictures to your Web page allows you an important degree of personalization. Adding images can mean the difference between a mundane and a creative page. With Yahoo! PageBuilder, the average person with limited computer “know-how” can easily upload pictures. Follow these steps to add an image to a Web page using Yahoo! PageBuilder.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Internet access
  • Computer
  • Yahoo! account

Step1
Open Yahoo! PageBuilder. This is the program you use to create and edit your Web page. Find the PageBuilder icon or open it from the Programs list.
Step2
Look for the “Pictures” button in the toolbar at the top of the PageBuilder screen. Click that button and the Select Picture screen will open.
Step3
Locate the “Upload” button. Near the middle of the Select Picture screen, you will find brief instructions on beginning the picture uploading process. To the right of these instructions is the “Upload” button. Click that button and the Upload Image window will open.
Step4
Locate the Upload Image window. In this window, you will be asked to click the “Browse” button. Clicking this button will allow you to search your PC’s files for the picture you wish to upload.
Step5
Browse to find your images. Locate the image you wish to upload by searching through directories and folders. If you don’t know where to look, try searching through the “My Documents” and “My Pictures” folders. When you find the image you wish to upload, double-click it, single-click it and hit “Enter” or click the “Open” button. You will be taken back to the Upload Image window. Click the “Upload” button on the bottom of the window.
Step6
Click and drag. The picture will now be in the center of the page. You can drag it into place by clicking and dragging it into the text box.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you do not have images on your computer, PageBuilder has a library of pictures available to you. To choose one of these images, go to the Select Pictures screen mentioned in Steps 2 and 3. At the top of this screen, you can browse through the Templates collection and find a list of images to choose from. Double-click one of these library images and then continue with Step 6.
  • Locate your picture before you begin Step 1. Knowing exactly where your image is stored on your PC makes things easier.
  • Organize your photos and images into one folder or a series of picture folders.
  • It is a good idea to save your Web page’s look and design before making any changes, especially if the Yahoo! PageBuilder program is still new to you. If you make an unwanted change or if your computer freezes during the upload, your page would not be lost.
