How to Display Weather Reports on Your GeoCities Web Page

GeoCities allows you to create your own Web site for free. Many people like to tailor their GeoCities Web page to reflect where they are from. A good way to make your GeoCities Web page unique is to add links to local news, events and weather. Follow these steps to learn how to display weather reports on your GeoCities Web page.

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet access
  • Computer
  • Yahoo! account
  1. Step 1

    Log onto your GeoCities Web page. Log onto your GeoCities Web page using your Yahoo! or GeoCities user name and password.

  2. Step 2

    Set up a weather report. Open another browser and click to open the "GeoCities Control Panel" and begin the weather report set up process.

  3. Step 3

    Browse the options. Scroll through the dozens of national and world weather report options available.

  4. Step 4

    Select a weather report. Once you decide which report is right for your GeoCities web page, click that link.

  5. Step 5

    Localize your report. Next, scroll through all the available locations. Check each city that you want to have weather reports displayed from and then click "Next."

  6. Step 6

    Pick a style and unit. Weather reports can be displayed in one of three different styles. Choose a style and also decide what measurement you want your units displayed in. Then click "Generate Code."

  7. Step 7

    Copy and paste. Copy the HTML code displayed on the GeoCities Control Panel. Go to the "File Manager" on your Web page and select the file you want to add the weather report to. Then paste the code into that file and click "Save."

  8. Step 8

    Activate the weather report. Return to the GeoCities Control Panel and click the "Activate Weather" button. Your GeoCities Web page will now display your desired weather report.

Tips & Warnings
  • The local reports are listed alphabetically by state. Scroll down to your desired state to quickly find the city you are looking for.
  • You can view the various styles prior to choosing one by clicking the word "Style 1," "Style 2" or "Style 3."
  • Don't select too many weather reports to display or your GeoCities Web page will become too cluttered.
  • After copying the HTML code to the GeoCities Control Panel, do not close the panel. After pasting the code into your file you must return to the Control Panel and click the "Activate Weather" button.
