How to Improve the Battery Life of a Dell Axim

The Dell Axim is a great portable Pocket PC that lets you listen to music, watch videos, browse the Web, and work in your Microsoft Office applications from anywhere. There are some easy ways to improve the life of your battery so that you aren’t plagued by “Low Battery” errors. Follow these steps to improve the battery life of a Dell Axim.

  1. Step 1

    Read your Dell Axim user manual to familiarize yourself with its many functions. The manual also includes some useful tips for improving battery life.

  2. Step 2

    Conserve battery life by minimizing the brightness setting of the backlight on your Dell Axim display.

  3. Step 3

    Use your stylus to tap the "Start" button.

  4. Step 4

    Tap the “Settings” button and choose the “System” tab.

  5. Step 5

    Select the “Brightness” tab. Decrease the level of brightness to improve the battery life of your Dell Axim.

  6. Step 6

    Purchase an extended battery or secondary battery for your Pocket PC as an alternative.

  7. Step 7

    Search online for batteries with a higher “mAh” to increase battery life. Make sure that the battery you choose is compatible with your Dell handheld device.

Tips & Warnings
  • Dell recommends that you charge the main battery of your Pocket PC until it is fully charged before you use it for the first time. It will take about 8 hours for the main battery to fully charge.
  • You can manually monitor your battery life using the Power Properties on your handheld device.
  • Make sure the battery cover is in the locked position by sliding the battery latch to the right.
  • Keep in mind that Dell Technical Support will only offer service support for batteries that are validated by Dell.
