How to Charge a Dell Axim Battery for the First Time

When you initially power on the Dell Axim Pocket PC for the first time, you may see a "Backup Battery Very Low" error on the display. Just follow the simple steps below to charge your Dell Axim battery for the first time.

Things You’ll Need:

  • Dell Axim

Step1
Read the instruction manual enclosed with your pocket PC.
Step2
Familiarize yourself with all the components of your Dell Axim.
Step3
Find the battery, AC adapter and charging plug included in the box.
Step4
Follow the manual's instructions. Place the battery in the appropriate slot in back of the handheld and firmly push down until you hear a click. That sound indicates that you’ve correctly installed the battery .
Step5
Fit the charging plug onto the tip of the AC adapter.
Step6
Connect the charging plug into the slot located at the bottom of your handheld.
Step7
Plug the AC adapter into an electrical outlet.
Step8
Wait approximately 8 hours for your battery to fully charge.
Step9
Disconnect your Dell Axim from the AC adapter. It is now fully charged for use.
Step10
Press the power button. Instructions for setting up your pocket PC will appear on the screen.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have a USB cradle, you can also charge the battery on your Dell Axim for the first time by docking it on the cradle. Follow the steps listed in your owner’s instruction manual.
  • Turning the pocket PC off prior to charging it for the first time may speed up the charging process.
  • Be careful when handling the charging plug–some users have reported problems with the charging plug getting stuck in the slot at the bottom of the Axim.
