How to Add a Skype

You can include Skype "Call Me" buttons in your emails so your friends can contact you using Skype. Embedding a Skype "Call Me" button in an email message is also a fine way to introduce your friends to the system. Follow these steps to add a Skype "Call Me" button to an email.

• Computer
• Skype account

Instructions

1. Enable HTML in your emails. Some email programs and Web mail providers disable HTML by default. Open your options or settings to enable HTML or check your provider's help page to discover how to enable HTML.

2. Register for Skype. Visit the Skype Web site and download the software. Skype will walk you through the installation and registration.

3. Return to the Skype homepage. Click the "Skype Buttons" link. Scroll to the bottom of the page to find a site index. Under the "Share" heading you should find the "Skype Buttons" link. Click it.

4. Type in your Skype name. Enter your Skype name in the field on the next page. This is the same username with which you log in to Skype.

5. Select a button you prefer. Below, you will see a couple of premade buttons to use.

6. Select "E-mail" under the "Copy and Paste" option. You have two options. Select the one offering the "Email HTML" code. Do not select "Web HTML."

7. Copy and paste the code. Click on the editable text field where the HTML code appears. This should automatically highlight the text. If it does not, right click and click on the "Select All" option. After it is selected, right click again and select the "Copy" option.

8. Compose an email. Return to your email program, open up the window as if you were about to start typing a message, and begin writing an email.

9. Paste the code. Right click the text field where you would type a message and click paste.

10. Finish your message and send. Make sure you do not alter the code you just pasted. Do not insert any text inside the code. Send as you normally would send once you've completed your message.

Tips & Warnings

• Try embedding your Skype button into your email signature. That way you won't have to repeat these steps each time.

• You can make your own buttons. Click on "Create a Custom Button" instead of using the premade buttons.

• Your button comes with a link to download Skype, just in case your friend doesn't have it yet.

• The recipients must have HTML enabled on their email client in order to see your link.
