Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Inkjet printer
  • Computer
  1. Step 1

Use a good digital camera. For 4x6 and 8x10 prints, you will want a camera with at least two or three megapixels.

  2. Step 2

Buy photo paper. Spend the extra few dollars to get high-gloss photo paper that is designed for your printer.

  3. Step 3

Use photo ink. High quality photos take high quality ink. Do not use the same ink that you use for documents.

  4. Step 4

Optimize your settings. Select “File > Print" then click “Properties” and find the preferences or quality tab. Set the quality to the highest or choose a photo preset.

  5. Step 5

Edit photos on your computer. Import your photos from a CD or your digital camera. See your camera’s manual to find out how.

  6. Step 6

Crop and resize. Cut out anything extra in the background that you do not want and resize the picture so it will fit on the page.

Tips & Warnings
  • After printing, lay your photos out flat for a couple of hours so they’ll dry without curling.
  • Cleaning your print heads regularly and running other self-maintenance options can keep the quality of your printouts high.
  • Avoid blowing up your pictures digitally as this reduces the quality. Instead, crop before you resize.
