How to Replace the Battery on a Palm Z22

Rate: (0 Ratings)

The Palm Z22 is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery which, in theory, can be recharged an infinite number of times. In practice, however, the lifespan of a rechargeable battery is finite. Replacing the battery yourself is possible if you have some skill with tools and a bit of patience.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Star-bit screwdriver
  • New z22 battery
  • Palm z22

What to Do

Step1
Pull down on the back cover of your Palm Z22, and remove the cover from the device. Find the screws that secure the halves of the devices casing together.
Step2
Loosen and remove the screws from the Z22's casing using a star-bit screwdriver.
Step3
If there are tabs present on the circuit board, you will need to stop immediately. Consult with a technician about removing the tabs.
Step4
Find the battery. Move it out of the case so you can have better access to the power supply lead.
Step5
Pull the power supply lead from the battery. Grasp the base of the plug firmly and disconnect in one smooth motion.
Step6
Remove the old battery from the case and insert the new battery into the same position and with the same orientation.
Step7
Replace the rear cover on the Z22 and charge the new battery for at least four hours before use.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use firm steady pressure to open the case. Sharp blows and delicate electronics do not mix.
  • A star-bit screwdriver is not the same as a Phillips screwdriver. The star-bit has a six-flanged head which looks a little like an asterisk when viewed head-on.
  • If your battery has a blue casing on it, do not attempt to change the battery.
