Instructions

  1. What to Do

    • 1

Check your version number. You can find this either written on the printer or in the documentation. It should have a letter and a number and possibly a name, such as LBP-1189 or Pixma Pro 5900. Now, visit to the Canon website.

    • 2

Click "Support", then "Product Support," under the heading "Consumers."

    • 3

Select your model. You will see three drop down menus. Select your device type, which is printer, then your model series and then your specific model number.

    • 4

Click "Drivers/Software." On the support page that pops-up, you should find this link under "Downloads."

    • 5

Select your driver to download. You should get a list of downloads. Find a driver that matches your OS and platform.

    • 6

Read the user agreement. Click "I Agree."

    • 7

Save the file to your computer. Now, run the file to install the printer drivers.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you can not find the driver on the official website, venture out and do some web searches. Begin by typing in your model number and "drivers" to get some results.

  • Also, check out Driver Guide (see below), a community of users sharing hard-to-find drivers.

  • Still stumped? You can email tech support from the support page and they will reply within a day.

  • Not everything on the download page is a driver. Read the descriptions carefully.
