Things You'll Need:
- Computer
- Internet access
-
Step 1
Understand the design. Printers that can print on CDs and DVDs have special paper carriages that accommodate discs. It's kind of like the envelope setting on a normal printer. Most use a special CD/DVD tray that is fed through the printer.
-
Step 2
Determine on your needs. Do you want a printer that does it all-CDs, DVDs, photos and documents? Or do you want something that is dedicated to printing on DVDs? Both kinds are on the market and prices vary.
-
Step 3
Shop around. As of 2006, Epson is the only manufacturer that sells inkjet DVD printers in the U.S., so a good place to start is on the Epson Web site (see link below). Or, perform an Internet search for "DVD printers."
-
Step 4
Do your research. There still are some glitches to be worked out in DVD printers, so you'll want to find models that perform well. Read reviews online and in magazines. Find out if the loading mechanism is troublesome and if the bundled software is up to par.
-
Step 5
Buy your DVD/CD-capable printer and start printing DVDs.

on 6/26/2009 Most CD/DVD inkjet printers are based on HP printing technology. To keep the cost down find out if such printer uses non-proprietary off the shelf ink cartridges? Many manufacturers block non-proprietary ink cartridges and they would not work. These manufacturers are charging 2-3 times over the cost of regular ink cartridge and are only sold through their channels.
Consider MantraJet 1050 or 1100 CD/DVD printer by YUREX sold at http://MantraMediaStore.com
