How to Use Bluetooth to Send an Application from a Treo Smartphone

Sharing is great and software is no exception, as long as it's freeware. If a program has been helpful to you, then you should certainly recommend it to others. Now, rather than just pointing your friend in the right direction to download the software, you can use your Treo Smartphone to send the setup files directly using Bluetooth or infrared. Your friend will be really impressed and very grateful!

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Software
  • Another Treo Smartphone
  • Treo Smartphone
  1. Step 1

    Open the "Programs" menu on your Treo Smartphone to display the programs that are currently installed on your device.

  2. Step 2

    Run the "File Manager," which displays all of the files on your device. You can browse, copy, rename and delete files through this program.

  3. Step 3

    Find the file that you want to beam to your friend's phone.

  4. Step 4

    Select the file by using the navigational key on your Smartphone's keypad. Make sure that the file is highlighted.

  5. Step 5

    Press the "Menu" button to see a list of expanded options for this file. This button brings up a new menu with all the different actions you can take with the file.

  6. Step 6

    Select "Beam File." Your phone will then scan and display all Bluetooth devices within range.

  7. Step 7

    Look down the list and select the recipient’s device using the navigational key.

  8. Step 8

    Press "Send" and your Smartphone will begin transferring the file to the other phone.

Tips & Warnings
  • Software will only work on other Palm phones and PDAs.
  • The recipient will have to accept the file in order to complete the sending process.
  • If no Bluetooth devices are found at Step 6, make sure that the other phone's Bluetooth technology is turned on and that the device is visible.
  • Only accept files from people you trust.
